    Technical Regulation for Soudless Cutting Method (SCA) of Quarrying Stone and Blocks

    Ⅰ.Design Pricinples.

    1.Sphere of application: This regulation is applicable for quarrying marbles, granites, and bowlders,etc stone and blocks with SCA.

    2. Specially technical personals must be in charge of quarrying design, including the total plan for mine-quarrying and quarrying design for quarrying stone and blocks. It is the stone mine whose quarrying ratio of stone yield is over 30% that has the quarrying value.

    3.In the SCA designing, both the structure characterictics and the specification requirement of blocks should be taken into consideration.

    4.Apart from the usage of black powder to control blasting in separating big blocks of rocks or excavating trenches, it is prohibited to use explosives to quarry blocks.

    5.SCM cutting design parameters mainly include: rock mass terrrace length (A), cutting height (H), cutting Width(B), as well as the height, width and length of the trenches,.The above-mentioned design parameter should be determined byu the joints, trend and environment of the ore body.

    6.SCM drilling design parameters mainly include: hole diameter (d), hole space (a), hole length (l), and the minmum resistance line (w).The above-mentioned design parameters should be determined by the rocks’ type, mechanical properties, joints, trend, free faces and environmental temparatures,etc.

     

    Ⅱ.Organizational Management

    1. SCM drilling design and drafting of the on-location cutting drawing should be in the charge of preofessional technicians and technical personals who give design assignment paper to quarrying working team and responsible for inspection. Objections, if there are any , should be resolved by consultation of the two parties.

    2. Quarring working team should operate according to the design assignment paper and takes good operation records.

    3. Quarring working team is divided into trench-excavating group and block-cutting group, and subdivided into air compressor worker , rock drill worker, pneumatic breaker worker, and backman who is responsible for SCA stiring, filling and block-separation.

     

    Ⅲ. Quarrying Preparation

    1.Operators, acted by technicians or experienced workers, should draw out the cutting line with the black mark-line before drilling, and mark the hole spacing and angle.

    2.Before operating, safety checkers should check the safety conditions on the working sites.

    3.Check the operating conditions of various equipment; check whether the air compressor works well, the air drill works agily, air pipe leaks air or not, etc.

    4.Equipments should have requisition and return procedures. SCA should be stored in ventilated and dry places; SCA in broken bags or inefective SCA can not be used.

    5.With a high sense of responsibility, operators should be familiar with SCA and machine’s performance, overhaul them regularly, clean the air compressor, air drill and pneumatic breaker.

     

    Ⅳ. Technical Requirements of Drilling.

    1.Operate strictly in line with the hole-drilling design plan. If there is any problem, raise it to the technical personals immediately; do not change the design at random without the permission of the design personals.

    2.The drilling holes should be located on the dots of hole spacing; all dots should be on the same line with a deviation no more than ±2cm.

    3.All the drilling hole angles on the same cutting surface should stay the same with a deviation no more than ±2cm.

    4.While do the two-side cutting, the directions of the vertical and horizontal holes should be mutually perpendicular with a deviation no more than ±2cm.

    5.The depth of the drilling holes on the same cutting surface should meet the design requirement.

    6.After finishing drilling holes, operators should inspect for acceptance; if the holes fail to meet the design requirements, drill supplementary holes.

     

    Ⅴ. SCA Filling Work

    1.Before filling the powder, rock powder and water in all the holes should be blowed away with the air pipe.

    2.Select the proper type of SCA in accordance with different season and temperature.

    3.Stirring equipment:two or three 10 kg plastic or mental pails, two or three 1000 ML enamel measuring tubes with graduation, three or five pairs of rubber gloves , or one or two electronic mixers.

    4.Stirring water: tap water or clean moutain water, well water or river water. 40~60℃ hot water should be adopted in winter.

    5.Water cement (w/c) ratio of vertical holes: 0.30~0.35; w/ct ratio of horizontal holes:0.25~0.28. W/C ratio should be higher in summer while lower in winter. Stir well and avoid cakings.

    6.The SCA slurry mixed at one time should be used up in 10 minutes.

    7.The drilling holes on the same cutting surface should be dilled with powder continuously at one time: first the holes in the middle then the ones on the edge; first the vertical holes then the horizontal holes.

    8.While filling holes, directly pour the SCA slurry into the vertical holes, and press the slurry into horizontal holes with a mudjack or stuff the SCA adhensive mortar manually into the holes and press compact with a stick.

     

    Ⅵ.Maintenance Work

    1.After filling the holes, cover asphaltic felt on rainy days to prevent rain water immerges.

    2.In general, coverage is unneccesary after filling holes in summer and autumn; while in winter, straw mat need be used to cover the holes to maintain moisture; electrothermic method is used for warming if needed.

    3.After cracks appears, fill water in the cracks to speed up the SCA chemical reaction.

     

    Ⅶ.Rock-separating Work

    After the whole cutting surface breaks 5~10 mm, break manually the block immediately or separate it with a winch, or else SCA will continue to expand, cracks will extend to the extent that it destroy the surrounding rock body.

     

    Ⅷ. Shaping Work

    If flatness of the cutting surface is over 3cm, finish it manually; if the specification of blocks (length, height) surpasses 6cm over positive allowance, finish it manually or with SCA.

     

    Ⅸ.Main Points about Operation Safty Measurements

    1.When working at height, there must be reliable safety equipment, solid platform, ladder and safety belt,etc.

    2.While stirring SCA manually, rubber gloves must be worn, safety goggles must be worn when filling to prevent corrosion to skin and eyes.

    3.When filling SCA, do not look into the orifice closely in case once the SCA ejection happens, it will hurt eyes.

    4.In summer, to prevent the SCA ejection, it is best to fill holes in the morning or the evening.

    5.SCA should be stored in dry places. Guard against moisture.
